Picture Please
[edit]I have never seen this kind of battery in stores, and I guess that it's not as common as a 9v or a AA, so could someone please obtain a photo of one? Thanks!Ilikefood 20:36, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
- I'll get you a picture, I work at radioshack, they're sold at every radioshack nationwide, so they're not too hard to find, maybe we should say that they are easily found there in the article. Hollowman512 22:59, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
- That's a pretty small battery, there. --NEMT 20:30, 30 September 2006 (UTC)
Merge
[edit]Do we really need separate articles on each *size* of battery? AAAA, AAA, AA, etc. can all be merged into one article. --Wtshymanski 23:07, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
- You could merge them if you kept the articles fairly organized...Merging an article such as this is easily confused IMHO.--Ben414 00:22, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
Pronunciation
[edit]I have seen these, but what are they pronounced as?? 4 A? Quadruple A? A-A-A-A?? --Ben414 00:22, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
- It's quadruple A I believe. 124.187.240.173 06:02, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
Poorly written
[edit]This article is rampant with spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors. I cleaned up a few, but don't have the time right now to scour the whole article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 162.136.192.1 (talk) 19:24, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
Did you know??
[edit]Bit of interesting trivia: in alphabetical order; this article is wikipedia's first article. Randy6767 (talk) 18:56, 13 July 2008 (UTC)
Nine Volt battery = 6 AAAA?
[edit]I've heard on the internet that you can open a nine volt battery (and I've opened one) should this be put in or not? The Smiling Bandit (talk) 06:52, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
- I added the picture of a 9v battery opened, if this should be removed then go ahead. The Smiling Bandit (talk) 07:22, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
I know it is 6 volt —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kolliparaemb (talk • contribs) 05:17, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
- Well, no, it's 1.5 volts each if divided evenly. The Smiling Bandit (talk) 04:30, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
6 AAAA Welded? Soldered maybe
[edit]The the phrase "connected together by welded tabs." bothers me as I always though they were soldered. The [MSDS PDF] mentions lead, but not solder specifically. Any references to how the 6 x 1.5's are bonded together into a 9V?
Lent (talk) 15:25, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
- Why did you think they were soldered? Welded tabs are incredibly common on dry cells. The Battery Handbook edited by Linden says (5,4,1) that soldering wires from one zinc can to the next postive post is still common in Leclanche batteries, but that welding is the preferred method for most other battery systems. I seem to recall dismantling 9 V Leclanche cells for their connector snaps and sometimes finding a wire on one terminal, sometimes finding a welded strip - but these always used flat cells, not R61s. Any alkaline 9V I've taken apart (it's been a while) uses tabs and strips. --Wtshymanski (talk) 15:38, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
D, C, AA, AAA, AAAA all exist, whatever happened to A & B?
[edit]Anyone with trivial historical info on this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.23.253.89 (talk) 17:26, 18 July 2009 (UTC)
- See List of battery sizes and Battery nomenclature --Wtshymanski (talk) 22:01, 9 November 2010 (UTC)
Merging this article with "List of battery sizes"
[edit]I've reverted changes made by Wtshymanski, which made this page redirect to List of battery sizes, as this was done without any consultation on the talk page. However, it may make sense to merge this page into the List of battery sizes page. I have also reverted similar changes made by Wtshymanski to AAA battery, AA battery, C battery, and D battery pages. --Supergloom (talk) 10:37, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
- It's fairly ludicrous to have an "article" on each size of dry cell. You might as well have articles on a "4-pack" of AA, a "6-pack", a "2-pack" or a "20-pack". Wikipedia is not a martketing guide for batteries nor is it a parts catalog. --Wtshymanski (talk) 17:06, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
Diameter
[edit]Indeed, 8D, however that is specifying maximum diameter, minimum is 7.7, but your correction is fair and makes more sense than what I attempted to do.--Lead holder (talk) 18:49, 10 June 2011 (UTC)
